LOUIS VUITTON DIANE SATCHEL
It’s not at all shocking that the past keeps reinventing itself in a time when archival revivals are commonplace. Every major design firm, including Nicolas Ghesquière at Louis Vuitton and Gucci, has adopted this as a theme. Following up on the Loop bag, an homage to the Croissant bag that was withdrawn, Ghesquière and company present the new Diane bag for spring 2022.
HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF
A legendary Louis Vuitton bag from the 1990s is brought back to life by the Diane Bag in the storied Monogram canvas of the brand, which combines parts of the past icon with new, contemporary finishes. The bag’s leather corners, saddle-like buckle fastening (though it’s finished with a magnetic button), and sleek shoulder bag silhouette all pay homage to the 1990s and give off a vintage vibe. In the meantime, the bag has been updated with contemporary features including a broad jacquard strap that reverses and can be worn with either the brand’s distinctive Monogram Flower motif or the bold Louis Vuitton logo showing (color options are black or pink).
The Diane is an excellent everyday bag because of its roomy interior and total dimensions of 3.5′′ H x 5.9′′ W x 9.4′′ D. Both the inside and outside of the bag have clever pockets that are incorporated with contemporary usefulness in mind. Additionally, the interior of the back of the bag has a zipped compartment that is ideal for securing any valuables.
